Bilingual Legal Adviser
Salary: £20,000-£25,000 per year
Full time: 37 hours per week
Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate
will respond to requests for help from disadvantaged individuals and
groups and assists them by providing confidential legal advice on
their rights and responsibilities in a wide range of issues
including welfare rights, housing and homelessness, employment,
consumer issues, debt, education and immigration.
Successful candidate will have:
A law degree and/or a recognised postgraduate qualification in
law
At least two years experience of
providing legal advice in a wide-ranging areas
Ability to speak fluently at least one
of the main African Caribbean languages
Knowledge and understanding of African
Caribbean cultures
Knowledge and experience of working
with disadvantaged people and groups
Interpersonal skills and excellent
communication skills
Ability to develop ideas and be
innovative including managing own caseload
Ability to deal sympathetically with
clients who are stressed or aggressive
Non-judgmental, resourceful, flexible
and able to cope with pressure.
IT skills
